Last Sep 14, SSC’s Secondary 1 & 2 Pupils were back anew at the Umapad Elementary School to meet and get to know better the 32 chosen beneficiaries of the Shern & Friends Feeding Programme. For our pupils have been handed the role of monitoring and reporting to the donors the progress of the 32, with the goal of having all the beneficiaries make it to their Primary School graduation by March 2017! What a wondrous opportunity indeed to make a positive difference in these children’s lives.
This blog entry was written by the 14 P6 & S1 Pupils (with edits from Merlie as needed) as they shared their experience at Kool Adventure Camp held last 14-15 August. For this piece, the 2-day event was divided into 14 parts with each Pupil asked to choose which he/she would want to write about.
The Cambridge Progression Test Results are finally out! Congratulations to the listed current P4-S1 Pupils who garnered GOLDS! And guess what? All returning Pupils now attending P5, they ALL achieved at least 1 Gold! Kudos! Keep going SSC!
Hope everyone received their personalised invite sent out today? For this is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated school events of the year that gathers SSC families together, happening this September 2015!
Right after Part 1 comes Part 2 and this time, we feature the big success that was “Let’s Makan” and the Lee Kuan Yew ArtworkFEST likewise held during SG50 @ SSC last Aug 3rd-7th!
And here are the rest on what transpired the whole week of August 3rd as SSC celebrated SG50! Part 1 because it is mighty long! But do read on please.
Even after the SG50 celebrations at SSC were over, the children were still talking about it the week after. One of the biggest features of this event was the Lee Kuan Yew Exhibit put up at the lobby. For those who missed it, we got a digital version of it available in the school blog. At the same time, I write this piece about my experience as a curator. Enjoy the read!
The School President would like to thank Harvard-graduate Ms. Michi Ferreol for sending a video message all the way from Boston, Massachusetts to wish our SSC Pupils the best in their Term 1 Exams last week! Your words were not only encouraging but it likewise reminded the kids how all that they do… is FOR THEM after all, and how doing good in school does open up more opportunities in the future.
Term 1 Exams are next week already! How to get ready? HOW TO REVIEW? Read on for the best advice from Merlie!
From W.I.S.E.S. to WYBMC, what’s with the acronyms you wonder? Well this latter one was what our SSC PreSchoolers and Lower Primary Pupils actually asked their Parents: Will You Be My Classmate? So last week Thursday and Friday (July 23rd and 24th to be exact), look who came and sat beside their child to be exactly that… THEIR CLASSMATE!
Just as important as the actual event itself is the reflection, insights, the lessons hopefully learnt as a result. Thus, here is what the Upper Primary and Secondary School Pupils thought of their experience as they walked in the shoes of a Savemore bagger and stock clerk, a production worker at Titay’s, a laundry personnel at Wash N Dry and a public school Teacher at the Umapad Elementary School last July 9th and 10th.
So sorry for the late blog entry! Merlie has just been so caught up but here I am, blogging now about the LUAU that was PARENTS NIGHT last 3rd of July!
Today finally saw the first session of Club Day in Primary School which is held every Wednesday from 3pm-4pm! So there’s the Glee Club and the Arts Club, then there’s the Book and Movie Club! Another school year has started and of course, an Earthquake and Fire Drill is a must at SSC to inform all new, refresh all old (staff and pupils) and even learn something new - on what to do when a real earthquake or fire happens. And on top of the Mandaue City Fire Department, ERUF (Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation) was also present, sharing their passion in saving lives and hopefully inspiring future volunteers too!

We heart SSC TRAFFIC ‘coz of Drivers and Fetchers like us!” Thank you to all SSC Parents who allowed the ones they assign to drop/pick up and drive their kids to and from school (whom many of us consider to be part of our family) to come join the afternoon merienda in school last June 4th! It surely was not only beneficial learning the rules and regulations to ensure continued Pupils safety and smooth campus traffic, we sincerely also had fun with the get together!
