The SSC curriculum is identical to its affiliate, Singapore School Manila (SSM). Since 2006, SSM has successfully been able to implement the academic programmes of Singapore, which is run by its Ministry of Education (MOE). It is a curriculum that is constantly reviewed and updated by the MOE to ensure that it is in line with the goals of its nation, which is to best prepare its citizenry for the challenges of the future. SSC therefore, benefits the most from being able to employ a curriculum that has gone through much scrutiny, testing and proven to be one of the best in the world.
Singapore Math is the main highlight of the Singaporean curriculum. For over a decade, the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Studies showed Singaporean pupils outranking the rest of the world in their Math scores. At present, Singapore Math is now being employed in more than 1200 schools in the United States, and prestigious institutions in Metro Manila are likewise starting to use the method, where the focus is on problem solving and analytical thinking, as opposed to rote computation.
On top of the Singaporean curriculum, SSC has been awarded International Centre status by the University of Cambridge International Examinations which would prepare pupils for admission into the world’s leading colleges and universities. SSC is also a member of the Cambridge International Primary Program, therefore guaranteeing that our programmes are at par with other international schools in the world.
Other features of SSC include the use of trilingual education covering British English, Mandarin and Filipino. In addition to the school’s academic programme, children are offered closely supervised “special time”, allotted to finish school work, and areas of study that need more attention. We likewise adhere to a “No Homework Policy” to encourage family time outside school. Therefore, what needs to be done in school, is done in school.
