Psychologists have a name for it. Educators are embracing it. It’s called… AGENCY! Agency transforms uncertainty into… CONFIDENCE. And so for 2 School Years (2026-2028), we will be building on that AGENCY for a CONFIDENT TOMORROW!
We now live in a world designed to disrupt and distract, with AI poised to take over much of the THINKING for humans next. At this stage of the school’s history, it’s time for self-examination and collective reflection that leads to transformation. The shoutout or call to become THINKERS IN ACTION covering 2 School Years: 2024-2026 – is for all stakeholders to acquire the mindset, foster the skills, and put into practice what is needed to meaningfully improve education and life itself.
Let’s be clear. Life is hard. But life is also full of joy and fulfillment. We become the best version of ourselves when we can transcend the challenges and discomfort we face! Therefore, this School Year 2023-2024, the whole SSC community is on a journey together, acquiring the tools (Grit, Growth Mindset, GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES, MINDFULNESS to name a few) so WE CAN DO HARD THINGS! #SSCyeswecan!
As SSC transitions to an endemic Covid-19 with the full resumption of Face-to-Face classes, we find ourselves in a world with unpaved roads to the future. This School Year 2022-2023, SSC’s 12th – we call on our SSC Warriors, nurtured and supported by their Parents, Teachers and the rest of the community, to carry on with courage and belief in themselves and BLAZING TRAILS towards a better world!
And it starts by choosing to be invested in one’s learning, i.e. showing up, and being fully present, followed by the desire to A.C.T. (last year’s shoutout of being Aware, Caring and Taking action). #sscTRAILBLAZERSyeswecan!
In their second school year of Distance Learning due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, SSC Warriors are called to A.C.T.
A is to be Aware.
C is to Care.
T is to Take action.
From their studies to well-being to helping others, SSC Warriors A.C.T. shall hopefully foster a future generation of thinkers, carers and doers.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has evoked WAR comparisons. Never before have our SSCians seen this much disruption and uncertainty to LIFE as they know it. Now is the time to foster these descriptors and traits anew: WARRIOR, 战士 Zhànshì, BRAVE & COURAGEOUS, full of VIGOR and VITALITY.

The world is changing so fast. Future-Proof became a buzz word. At SSC, we highly recognise this and spotlighted learning for life and developing amongst our Pupils the capabilities of the future. For the younger learners, 学备未来 xué bèi wèi lái may simply mean retaining knowledge. For the older learners, the shoutout calls for the development of critical thinking, originality, adaptability, among other skills that will make them future fit. @FutureProofLearning@SSC
Science convinced SSCians that their brain is malleable. And just like a muscle, you can make it better through exercise. This time, it was Dr Carol Dweck who inspired not only the Pupils but likewise the SSC Faculty and Staff the benefits of having a growth mindset vis-à-vis a fixed mindset. That includes seeing failure as an opportunity to learn. SSC’s MINDS are SET on GROWTH!
When the going gets tough, 永不言弃 yǒng bù yán qì, that means never give up! Thank you, Dr Angela Lee Duckworth, for making GRIT famous and identifying it as a key indicator for success. Even after a few school years have passed, SSCians, both from PreSchool to Pre-University still remember and utilise this shoutout when they see the need. SSC’s GOT GRIT!
